My client is looking to recruit an experienced Quality Manager with a strong background in Manufacturing.

Primary responsibilities:
The maintenance and future development of the company's ISO 9001:2000 quality management system with the overall aim of
ensuring continued compliance with the standard.
Acting as an inspector and the supervision and training of the Quality Control Inspector (QCI) and other staff involved
in inspection.
Acting as the Company's representative on Quality, Health and Safety (H&S) and environmental issues.
Acting as the company's training coordinator.

Specific responsibilities include:
Compiling audit schedules, implementing and reporting on internal quality audits to verify that all company activities
comply with the management system's procedures, assisting where possible in the rectification of problem areas
Acting with the Manufacturing Manager and Technical Director in the evaluation and auditing of
suppliers
The maintenance of the Quality database of test data and sub assemblies for all finished products
Providing reports at least quarterly of NCRs and customer complaints to the MD
Acting as an inspector and the supervision and training of the Quality Control Inspector (QCI) and other staff involved
in inspection
Control of metrology and test equipment calibration
Acting as the company representative on quality, H&S and environmental matters including liaison with BVQI and other
external quality organisations
Implementation of the company's H&S policy utilising the QCI wherever possible
Implementation of the company's environmental policy
Assisting with the induction training of all new staff and the maintenance of an employee handbook
Assisting in the development of new quality procedures
Reinforcing the message of a continuous improvement environment
Keeping training records for all staff

Person Specification
The ideal candidate for the role of Quality Manager will be able to demonstrate the following:
* Experience in ISO systems
* Necessary technical skill and formal training
* Relevant qualifications in quality management
* Relevant experience gained within a mechanical engineering workplace
* An excellent understanding of health & safety policies and procedures
* An excellent understanding of quality procedures
* Be reliable and committed
* A 'hands on' style, providing practical solutions
* Able to engage actively with the shop floor

In return you will be offered a good basic salary along with bonus (dependant on company profitability and personal
performance criteria)
