Build and Environments Specialist

About the role

Our IT department is changing fast and we need brilliant professionals to help drive that change. We want to change the
way IT is seen at the National Trust. We want to forge the perfect working relationship between the amazingly talented
people behind our beautiful places and spaces, and the IT infrastructure that will enable them to do their job the best
they can. A fresh new IT strategy, a new CIO, a new IT Director and the creation of a whole new management team: this is
your chance to be part of it.

As a wonderfully large, complex organisation, it goes without saying that our IT services and systems need to run
optimally at all times. Responsible for the day-to-day operational delivery and performance of our IT environments,
you'll help us achieve this. Working with third-party suppliers, the Supplier Management team, Project team and Technical
Designers, you'll fix issues and design and develop new environments. And, through effective and regular testing and
maintenance of our core systems, and by contributing to relevant documentation, you'll make sure that we always meet our
business requirements. Providing third-line support for our incident, problem and change processes, you'll be the
gatekeeper of our IT environments.

About you

Your expert technical knowledge and qualifications will include some or all of the following:

* Microsoft desktop/server operating systems

* Server administration

* Unix/Linux

* Application design and support

* Virtualisation technologies

* Web architecture platforms

* IT Security

* System Management Tools

* Software Deployment and Configuration Management Tools (preferable)

Your advanced technical acumen means you're brilliant at analysing problems, providing effective solutions and suggesting
courses of action. This is helped by your understanding of customer's needs and your ability to make decisions based on
priorities, constraints and the availability of necessary information. With strong communication and presentation skills,
you can explain complex matters simply and have experience of writing clear and concise technical documentation. Good
planning and organisation come as second nature to you, which means you can give your full attention to improving service
standards within your field, and consequently across IT at the Trust as a whole.

Incredibly rewarding

We expect a lot, but we'll offer a great deal in return, starting with stimulating and challenging work and the
opportunity to help us achieve our bold ambitions. We value your contribution, recognise the importance of a work-life
balance, and are committed to your continued development. You can also look forward to free admission to all our
incredible places, plus a helpful 20% off at our shops, cafes and restaurants. But they're just the benefits we can tell
you about here. There are lots more on our website.

About Us

There's no other organisation like the National Trust. No other organisation that brings such an incredible array of
places and spaces to life. No other organisation with such an extraordinary wealth of talent, expertise and insight.
Today, we're helping more and more people to enjoy unforgettable adventures and fantastic days out at our amazing places
across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
