Job Description:
The Senior Stress Engineer will be part of a team and report via the Chief Stress Engineer to the Chief Engineer within the Airborne Solutions organisation. They will be responsible for:
* Providing Stress analysis for modification proposals for Aircraft structural and mechanical modifications and enhancements.
* Progressing structural and mechanical design modifications in accordance with regulatory requirements, providing signature approval of all pertinent design documentation.
* Analysis of structural and mechanical flight systems design issues, determination of actions and solutions, working in accordance with the in service support task database management tools.
* Liaison with other departments and OEM's re damage/defect investigations and corrective actions.
* Ensuring that all engineering activities undertaken under their control are conducted in accordance with RSL site procedures that reflects best practice, and is in accordance with RSL and external authority (Civil and Military) requirements.
* Support to formal customer reviews, including the Structural Integrity Working Group's, Local Technical Committee's and Configuration Control Boards.
* Supporting Airborne Solutions projects across several UK based sites, with occasional overseas working.
Required Skills:
With proven experience in Civil/Military Aircraft Stress (including fatigue).
Design/Engineering experience in practical Aircraft environment.
Damage Assessment and the provision of repairs - Understanding of RAF Aircraft Air and Support Documents.
Ideally Holder of current SC security clearance or ability to obtain with RTN UK sponsorship.
A proactive team-player who can motivate and support their peers;
Proven engineering capability and someone who can anticipate problems and plan to mitigate them;
An able communicator in verbal, written and presentational forms;
A logical problem solver who can operate effectively under stretching project constraints;
Able to manage and work within agreed timescales and task budgets;
Demonstrable Experience and Knowledge
Proven experience of Aircraft Stress Design & Analysis with an emphasis on hand analysis of primary aircraft structure.
Practical 'hands on' experience on Aircraft Damage Assessment and the provision of repair advice, ideally with knowledge of Hawker Beechcraft King Air and Bombardier Global Express Aircraft structures.
Familiarity with and use of Aircraft Structural Repair manuals.
Knowledge of CS Part 23/25 and UK Military certification and safety regulations.
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows based software.
Knowledge and experience with aircraft mechanical flight systems.

Any further knowledge & experience of the King Air and/or Bombardier Global Express Aircraft would be an advantage.
Knowledge & experience of structural monitoring systems, understanding of Def Stan 05-123 and 00-970, experience with CS 23 /25 regulations.
Required Education:
Ideally Degree qualified in relevant Scientific or Engineering discipline.
