SENIOR QUOTATIONS EXECUTIVE/SENIOR ENGINEER

This company is a specialist sub-contractor and supplier for low to medium volume
electronic assemblies, wiring harnesses, looms, box builds and sub-assemblies.

Due to the success of the Company and its continued growth, an opportunity has now arisen for an experienced engineer to
join the existing team.

The candidate will be an experienced production engineer with a strong work ethic. A good
understanding of engineering principles and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is required as is an
understanding of MRP.

opportunities for the right candidate.

Reporting to: Technical Director

JOB DESCRIPTION

Points 1, 2 and 3 form the core duties as follows:
1) Quotations and Technical
a) To estimate the cost of manufacture of items required for quotation in a timely manner
b) To act as an advisor to the sales team with regard to quotations
c) To prepare works instructions that clearly define the manufacturing process for production
staff on specific and generic products.
d) To generate clear bills of materials that can be used to source materials and engineering
services
e) To accurately structure bills of materials onto the MRP system.
f) To standardise the quotations process to facilitate the speed of production and accurate
replication.
2) Pre Sales
To visit customers with or without sales team personnel with a view to providing technical
support in order to win new business or resolve technical issues.
3) Post Sales
a) Where required, to visit customers to discuss performance and requirements.
b) To provide a second line customer services role as required by both sales and manufacturing.
4) Purchasing
a) To provide guidance to the purchasing team on potential sources and pricing.
b) To work with the Buyer to approve new sources of supply.
5) Manufacturing
a) To develop the appropriate processes and product design for the manufacture of new
products.
b) To maintain a knowledge of current industry trends, techniques and equipment to ensure
the company continues to be competitive in the market.
d) To train employees as appropriate in any of the systems and processes necessary and
appropriate to allow the company to deliver products in a timely and cost effective manner.
f) Ensure that all personnel are aware of the quality standards and are trained to be able to
implement them.
6) General Management
a) To attend weekly senior team meetings.
b) To provide such guidance and instruction as are required to junior staff.
c) To provide such guidance and reporting as is required by senior staff.
7) Other Duties as Assigned
It is impossible to describe every aspect of every function within a job specification especially in a small company.
Hence other duties, as appropriate to the success of the company, may need to be assigned.

Qualifications and Experience required
The ideal candidate will have:
a) Technical competence EUR" a degree or HND qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering. Cross discipline
expertise is important
b) Good analytical skills including working knowledge of IT software packages such as Word,
Excel, Powerpoint, Access etc.
c) Good Project Management skills including organisation, communication, co-ordination,
negotiation, interpersonal.
d) A minimum of 5 years experience in a technical role.
e) Strong understanding and experience of the use and working of MRP systems
f) Knowledge and experience of electronic assembly marketplace is desirable.
