Ashton KCJ, the recently merged firm of Ashton Graham and Kester Cunningham John, is looking to recruit to the position
of Risk & Compliance Manager covering its seven offices in East Anglia.

Role description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Risk & Compliance Manager. As the suitable candidate you will: Plan and carry
out audits of all support functions against the Firm's procedures and policies and report results to legal/business unit
managers
Identify training needs and provide training (in conjunction with the HRD) throughout the Firm on compliance related
matters including:
- SRA Handbook
- Anti Money Laundering
- Data Protection
- Risk identifica tion and management (Risk Plan)
- Business continuity planning
- Complaints and client satisfaction monitoring
Develop and manage the Firm's audit capability and function
Manage data provided by externally and internally conducted audits and monitor legal team's responses to it
Carry out day to day maintenance/updating of the Firm's procedures and policies and raise awareness of changes with all
concerned
Actively support the COLP in collating data required by the SRA including working across all teams to maintain the Firm's
Risk and Compliance Plan
Keep the Firm's business continuity plans up to date (in conjunction with Admin/IT/HR), test them and act as the focal
point in the event of an incident

About you

As a Risk & Compliance Manager you will ideally come from a legal services background, or with a proven ability to be
able to influence at a senior level whilst managing challenging and sometimes conflicting stakeholder priorities for the
benefit of the business. You will have:

Sound understanding of how law is delivered. May have legal qualifications, but not essential
Thorough knowledge and experience of risk management principles and processes, with sound enquiry skills
Knowledge and experience of business continuity planning
Thorough understanding of the Data Protection Act
Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to influence others and gain buy-in through negotiation and credibility
Ability to lead and create a motivating environment for team members
A good task manager with ability to prioritise effectively
