Purpose of this role:
EMC Engineer

The jobholder will be responsible for the planning and execution of engineering activities to ensure project compliance
with EMC requirements.

Background
Thales provides computer-based systems into a wide range of industries, this particular role relates to systems to be
provided into the rail industry.

The successful candidate will experience of operating as an EMC engineer, will be familiar with railway EMC standards and
related UK legislation, planning of an EMC programme, co-ordination and execution of EMC activities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Main duties within a project environment comprise:

* EMC Management Planning

* EMC Survey

* EMC Compatibility & gap analysis

* EMC Control Planning

* EMC Test planning & Testing

* In Field investigation & testing

* General duties comprise

* Reporting to the project manager

* Providing management information as and when requested

* Adherence to THALES procedures, working practices and site specific processes

* To undertake all other reasonable tasks as and when requested

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training:

* Degree qualified or equivalent

* Chartered Engineer status (desirable but not essential)

Work Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
Experience, skill and knowledge of:

* Working a project environment as part of a team (essential)

* Experience of EMC planning (essential)

* Experience of EMC surveying (essential)

* Experience of performing EMC compatibility analysis, gap analysis, control planning (essential)

* Experience of EMC test planning and execution (essential)

* Experience of managing EMC hazid/hazop (essential)

* Experience of the construction of EMC technical arguments in support of a safety case (desirable)

* Experience within a rail/tram domain (desirable)

* Experience of managing supplier/subcontractors with respect to EMC (desirable)

* Experience of EMC programme & budget control (desirable)

* Experience of preparing supplier/subcontractor scope (desirable)

* Experience of operating in a client facing role (desirable)
