Linux Ubuntu + MySQL System Engineer Required with 2+ years' experience - 18-27k depending on experience.

Start date: ASAP

The successful candidate will begin a full-time career with Insurance Initiatives Ltd (IIL) as a member of our systems
support team.

IIL are involved in developing web systems that help insurers verify data input by customers on comparison websites and
to access external data sources to add value to their day to day operations. Our systems are both browser based (HTML)
and operate as a high-volume web service (XML/SOAP) format. This platform is about 70% migrated onto Ubuntu Linux 10.04
and uses php and mysql. Over the next 3-6 months, all of the backend application servers will run Linux.

IIL needs another Linux Engineer, to complement the existing team, to look after the administration of the mysql
databases, to write administration scripts to keep the servers in check, to support our web developers, where necessary
and to help improve the systems, particularly in terms of performance.

You will generally work from our offices just off the Nottingham Market Square between 9:00 and 5.30. Our hours are
fairly flexible and if you need to work from home once in a while, this is perfectly acceptable. We're a relatively new
(4yrs), but highly successful company and are not particularly rigid in our working approach. You need to be able to work
in this relaxed, ad-hoc manner; some early starts, some late nights, on the odd occasion.

IIL currently employs around 16 members of staff, and have recruited every 3-6 months, over the last 4 years. Would you

Skills Required

Linux Systems - level=intermediate - 3+ yrs.
MySQL database administration - level=intermediate - 3+yrs
Bash Scripting - level=intermediate - 2+ yrs
PHP knowledge - level=beginner - 1+ yrs.

Desirable

Ubuntu Server - 2+Years
Programming in BASH
SVN - 2+ Years
Experience in Open Source Technologies
