Hospitality - Business Development - Sales

My client is looking for an experienced Hospitality Business Development manager to work solely on driving growth of the
hospitality business (Currently Room master/hotel select and Travelport Leisure) amongst existing customers and
prospective customers. The role is a business development manager and as such do not own customers from an account
management perspective unless these customers are 100% hotel customers of my client.
The role is overall and directly responsible for the hospitality revenue, attachment, and adoption targets for the
specific market. The role is also responsible for the overall hospitality pipeline for the market they represent.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Engage the in-market account base to achieve the hotel segment and revenue targets in the budget for the hospitality
business
* Ensure travel agents are aware of and up to date with all new products, functionality, payment options and training
courses
* Identify customers within portfolio that have willingness and ability to grow and/or move business to Travelport and
implement plan to secure business, in conjunction with the local sales team.
* Liaise and collaborate with Key Account Support Executives to maximize their hospitality knowledge and to help them
manage and drive action plans with their travel agents that will lift attachment rates with identified key customers in
local markets.
* Actively to management of properties when applicable market Travelport's advertising capabilities and feed leads to the
partner marketing team
* As part of the in-market sales and account management team ensure the entire sales team and country managers is kept
fully appraised of hotel and account management and support issues that have a significant impact on their market.
* Monitor through booking reports, etc the performance the in-market agents to ensure that overall market reach or exceed
targets set for hospitality business
* Educating and training of the in market sales staff on the basics of our hotel systems, the key selling messages and
competitive advantages, and generally on the hospitality industry. Play an active part in educating their subscribers.
* Actively work with the customer operations teams to ensure in-market hospitality training programs are up to date
* Analyze customers' business to determine which products will result in increased bookings and make recommendations
where appropriate
Your Skills and Experiences:
* 3-5 years GDS or travel industry functional experience in a sophisticated international business environment, including
some exposure to related commercial elements.
* Extensive hotel GDS booking background preferably through having worked at hotel service centre or travel agent booking
hotels including competence in areas (eg Focalpoint, Viewpoint, GoRes!)
* Proven basic negotiation skills.
* Previous experience using Galileo, Apollo or Worldspan or other GDSs either directly or as a supplier or travel agent
is essential.
* An overview understanding of the database system is expected especially how negotiated hotel rates and codes are loaded
and managed.
* Some technical knowledge of the GDS systems
* Basic knowledge of competitive products and services
* Fluent written and spoken English essential
* Additional languages for market they will be working in a base requirement and additional languages from associated
markets positive
* Excellent communication skills, written and verbal and in particular, to explain complex situations or solutions
competently and confidently.
* Good presentation/public speaking skills
* Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and assign priority according to company guidelines.
* Must be self motivated, a proactive team player and willing to accept change and embrace new ideas with a focus on
contributing to the overall success of the customer, the team and the company.
* Be conversant on Travelport products related to the hospitality business, with a focus on Hotel. (this includes
Galileo/Travelport Leisure)
* Must have a broad understanding of the hotel and may include, but not limited to, industry practices, means of
distribution, negotiated rates process, commission issues and challenges related to GDS bookings.
