Based in Edinburgh, our client is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a proven track record in mechanical design preferably in a high volume manufacturing environment and using solidworks. The role will be involved in camera and optical based solutions for mass production. Day to day responsibilities will include, verifying mechanical design through simulation and characterisation of components, customer interaction, technical interface to suppliers and working with assembly process/packaging engineers.
The successful candidate will have a direct influence on the end design, working closely with Optical, Silicon, Production and Quality Engineers, both on and off-site. Marketing and Business Development on all mechanical issues, and liaising with Customers on mechanical issues including current and future R&D projects.
Key Skills and Experience
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
Strong communication skills both written and oral
5+ years experience as a mechanical design engineer
History of working on successful designs
CAD literacy in Solidworks
Injection moulding/plastics - desirable
Bonding technology experience - desirable
Stress analysis - desirable
Thermal analysis - desirable
