Key responsibilities:

* Performing the provisioning, installation, upgrading, performance certification, operation and capacity planning of data and voice communication networks

* Coordinating with the Project Office as a network resource to infrastructure projects associated with systems engineering, upgrades and rollouts

* Coordinating with the Service desk/Operations the support and status of the communications network, ensuring ongoing availability and reliability of systems

* Providing escalated (2nd and 3rd level) technical support, troubleshooting and fault rectification of technical issues related to networking equipment and services - either directly or via third party vendors and carriers

* Monitoring the performance of the Company's communications network including carriers and providers to ensure established SLAs and business needs are met

* Mentoring and training of fellow team members, and as required across the wider Operations and Infrastructure teams

* Performing analysis of network traffic data and providing recommendations on performance improvements to network infrastructure

Key requirements:

* Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer science or Electronics Engineering

* Certificates in networking or security with vendors such as Juniper and Cisco (desirable)

* Juniper SRX Firewall policy and IPS

* JUNOS routing OSPF and BGP

* Juniper EX Ethernet switching RSTP/VSTP

* F5 LTM load balancing

* Extensive experience in Information Technology

* Extensive experience and sound skills in the configuration and maintenance of networking/communications infrastructure, including the ability to support a variety of technologies

* Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills

* Sound skills in Router hardware/software, Switch hardware/software, Mediums including SNA/MVS, Frame Relay, with vendors such as Juniper and Cisco

* Sound skills in Firewall hardware/software, Centralised policy management, with vendors such as Juniper and Cisco

* Sound knowledge of industry standards on data communications/networking and government regulations relevant to transaction processing and handling

* Sound project skills, delivering network functions by a deadline

* Sound operational knowledge of networking systems and software covering LANs, MANs and WANs

* Sound understanding of technical innovations in the communications sphere, such as metro-area networking, fibre optics, satellite and wireless technologies
