Asterisk Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Asterisk Consultant to assist with redesigning and updating our existing corporate telephony installation.

The selected candidate would ideally work alongside us in our Toronto office at Yonge & Bloor for the duration of the project or - at least - for the critical requirements gathering and training stages.

The full potential duration of the contract is still unclear pending some discussions with potential candidates concerning the general approach and high-level scope.

Additional details of the high-level project requirements are available to candidates whose resumes meet our pre-screening qualifications.

Responsibilities:

* Work closely with internal project sponsors to lead the telephony redesign requirements analysis and exploration sessions.

* Create and provide detailed documentation of the solution requirements and architecture (logical and physical) as well as detailed configuration

* Create and provide a detailed implementation plan outlining tasks, timelines, and dependencies.

* Perform the technical activities related to system setup and configuration. ( Note: We do have many experienced Linux Administrators on staff that will control and assist with access and changes to specific networks, datacenters, and hardware).

* Create and provide a test plan for the new system and features and execute said test plan in order to confirm and document the success of each test.

* Provide additional documentation and training sessions for the internal IT staff for common maintenance tasks and basic trouble-shooting.

Qualifications:

* Previous experience in configuring telephony systems using Asterisk and Free PBX in professional settings (references may be requested)

* Strong knowledge of Asterisk and associated queue and dial plan design and implementation

* Strong knowledge of Free PBX usage and configuration

* We do not anticipate modification or customization of Asterisk or Free PBX source code

* Experience working with and recommending 3rd party SIP providers is an asset

* Ability to analyze and optimize costs through design considerations and rate plans

* Excellent grasp of telephony security concerns and best practices

The office is located in downtown Toronto on the corner of Bloor and Yonge directly above the TTC subway intersection.
