Mechanical Design Engineer required for Defence company with Pro Engineer experience

Our client is recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer with Pro Engineer software knowledge and experience.
The client are one of the UK's largest Defence companies and have an outstanding project that requires additional support and so are recruiting on a 3-6 months rolling contract basis.

The successful candidate will undertake Mechanical Engineering tasks within multi-disciplined project teams for the installation design of platform subsystems. The role itself will take a holistics approach to mechanical engineering, taking into account factors such as safety, cost, ease of manufacture and through-life support.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Responsible for the mechanical design solutions within the Electronic Architecture Team, including Concepting, Packaging and Platform Installation design.
* Responsible for mechanical design during all phases of the development life-cycle.
* Responsible for mechanical specifications and analysis of design solutions to meet requirements.

Essential skills and experience includes:
* Mechanical deign experience.
* Land Platform experience.
* Working knowledge of ProE and PDM toolset
* Applied working knowledge of 3D CAD packages and BoM structures.
* Full understanding of BS8888 design practices.
* Full understanding of mechanical standards for fabricating, machining and finishing.
* Electrical subsystem packaging and platform installation experience.
* Ability to liaise with and present information to multi-disciplined team members.
* Ability to interpret mechanical design requirements and propose design solutions.
* Ability to produce mechanical designs using value engineering e.g. consideration of production costs, assembly times and ease of manufacture.
* Hold UK security clearance
* Willing to travel within the UK and overseas.

The position will primarily be based at either Ashchurch or near Newport but occasional visits to both may be required.

Pay:
circa 35.00 per hour (Ltd) depending on suitability
