Job description

Through the FootFall business unit, Experian are one of the two largest people counting companies worldwide with solutions currently installed in over 45 countries with a customer based including a host of well-known global retailer and retail property owners.

The solution has recently been rebuilt from the ground up - utilising Microsoft technology - to provide the foundation for future FootFall products that will enable the capture of new data sets around consumer behaviour in a retail environment, report on that information in innovative ways, integrate the data with further data such as demographics to drive business insight for our clients.

To continue to ensure that the delivered product set is of a high standard and meets the needs of both our customers and our internal users, a dedicated Quality Assurance team has been created within FootFall. The team is part of the wider product team within FootFall and be based at the FootFall headquarters in Solihull.

A Quality Assurance engineer is required to join this team and be responsible for the creation and execution of tests assigned to them by the QA team lead.

Key Responsibilities

The Quality team consists of a team lead and an analyst. The team forms part of a larger product development team, responsible for delivering the new Footfall product set, to both internal and external customers.

With the release of the new product set, the QA team will assume responsibility for testing the commercial products releases made by Footfall, as well as ensuring quality assurance practices are followed by the wider development and product team.

Four key areas of responsibility:

* Design, develop and execute test plans based upon functional and technical design specifications

* Participate fully in all testing activities

* Create and validate test data for functional components of the software applications

* Identify defects/bugs and communicate with the developers

Key people with whom liaison will occur:

* FootFall QA team lead

* FootFall development team members

* Footfall Support team members

* Analytical science team members

* Off shore QA resources

Job requirements & qualifications

Essential:

* Demonstrable experience of analysing requirement documentation to create detailed test plans

* Clear desire to work within a QA environment

* Good technical skills - ability to pick up new technologies quickly

* Experience in delivering code releases and managing test environments

* Attention to detail

* Good understanding of how to work with business users

* Good understanding of the development life cycle including the need for planning and management of software development tasks within a project and how software testing fits in

* Excellent communication skills - both to a technical and non-technical audience

* Dynamic and positive approach

* Excellent organisational and time management skills

Desirable:

* ISTQB Certification

* Active knowledge of common testing tools such as Test Director and LoadRunner

* Experience with Microsoft tools - Visual Studio, SharePoint 2010, MS SQL, MS Analysis Services, SSIS

* Experience of performing a QA role on commercial software (eg software to be sold on the open market)
