Overview
An expanding company in Newcastle requires an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team and work on newly won contracts. The company is involved in heavy engineering design and manufacture of machinery for a number of different markets. Contract position.

Job
To produce practical new designs to tight timescales in a supportive team environment.
As well as design, all staff work flexibly to cover all aspects of the production of relatively complex one-off machines.
Produce conceptual designs from process definitions.
Layout design of mechanical/hydraulic machinery.
Stress and other calculations to support designs.
To work in multi-discipline project teams on specific aspects of the machine design.
Whilst being a specialist in one of the following you will also have a good working knowledge of at least one of the other engineering disciplines: Mechanical, structural, hydraulic, geotechnics, maritime, nuclear, materials.
To be involved in the build, commissioning, test and trials of new build machines. This can involve working offsite/abroad/offshore.
Assistance with customer proposals and other sales activities.
Working with control and software engineers to ensure correct interfacing between different aspects of machines.

Experience Required
A minimum of Upper 2nd class degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Sound understanding of engineering principles.
A practical experience/background is essential

Remuneration
Negotiable depending on experience
