UX Consultant (Job Number: 14890)

Description

Are you a UX consultant with about three years' experience under your belt. You're looking to join a well-established and growing business with a focus on generating high user adoption of services and systems. You're full of questions, are likely to have attended a few good UX events and can share stories about the great design literature you've been inspired by.

You're a problem solver and focused on how UX work can make life better for people. You're a generalist who has conducted user research and/or testing and is great at nuts-and-bolts interaction design, you'll also be a flexible team player who understands the real-world pressures an experience architect's customer has to deal with.

What you'll be doing with us:
You'll be working in a team who's purpose is to make our customers more successful by making life better for the people who use their services. This can mean a number of things and a UX consultant will be expected to do research, interaction design and experience consultancy. You'll be supported by our senior UX leads but we want you to flex your muscles and grow with us. We may give you armbands on some client engagements, on others we'll chuck you in naked at the deep end:-)

You'll work closely with other team members and get mentoring from some of the best UX minds in the business. Equally, once we're happy things are working well we'll ask you to help our juniors and graduates on their journey.

About you:
- While you thrive in a team, you're an immaginative, natural "energiser", a self-starter who makes things happen needing to be told what to do.
- You're happy working closely with clients at their facility.
- You understand accountable design or evidence-based design (it wouldn't hurt if you were a bit of a closet analytics geek in your spare time).
- You appreciate this is a business and our customers want a return on their investment with us.
- You are smart about context. You produce the right stuff based on the specific circumstances, whether personas, prototypes or plain old paper sketches.
- You've created prototypes for user testing and iterated the results
- You're very much not a rarified design research theoretician, you're not afraid to be hands on when necessary.

Qualifications

Boxes to tick:
- Your online portfolio shows the impact you've had and the journey you've taken on each project.
- Tales of inquiry and success. be prepared to explain how you've made a difference to your customers.
- While we have several London offices, there may be some travel as we like to visit our clients a lot.

Our offer to you:
You'll be joining a large and dynamic design group. We're a global team with eighty designers in eleven studios. We offer a fast-paced and ever-changing landscape where you could be solving problems on tablets or thinking about how your customer should be using Twitter.

Training and R&D is HUGE at Avanade and we even factor in mandatory training hours

Salary is better than agency and the benefits actually count. Sure you get free fruit like everywhere else, but you also get a chunk of cash to buy toys with every year.

What the hell is Avanade?
I've never heard of them?

Our design practice has grown from a two-man team to a global footprint in just 5 years. We're growing fast and we are shaping our own future. Turns out the credit crunch and the recession simply highlighted the need for great design and better value. The business is looking to our team to show them what good looks like and that's something you'll want to be a part of.
