Data Centre Shift M&E Engineer - London - £31k to £36k per annum


Job Objectives & Responsibilities:

*As this role is hands on, it also includes the day to day maintenance of the Mechanical & Electrical Infrastructure and the ability to carry out breakdown maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment. To be familiar with mechanical & electrical applications normally encountered within the Cable & Wireless contract. To be aware of Safe Systems of Work and its application, performed under the terms of the Services contract.
*Assist the Area Controller when required, deputise for the Area Controller if required
*To take control of any works requested by the Area Controller through to completion.
*This role requires the jobholder to have the capability to take command of any works handed down, to control the quality as well as deliver a prompt and safe completion of any works. This role requires the jobholder to be a Mechanical & Electrical Technician with additional experience of air conditioning systems, together with Health & Safety awareness. To also have the ability to perform maintenance tasks effectively, efficiently and safely. Must be in possession of accreditations/assessment criteria commensurate with this position such as IEE 16th Edition Regs and competency in electrical switching.

Main Duties:

*To take control of works from the Area Controller through to completion.
*To ensure that all engineers within their team are compliant with Health and Safety requirements and to assist in any training of the team.
*To monitor and supervise on a day to day basis, apprentices for whom you have been assigned responsibility. This to include processing and completing college reports.
*To deputise for the Area Controller for both holiday and sickness absence if so requested by the management team.
*To perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance tasks on all associated equipment, including faultfinding and repair
*Operation of plant and equipment. Inspection of Mechanical & Electrical equipment and systems to ensure safe and efficient operation in accordance with agreed procedures and company quality standards.
*Call out duties. Participate in a Stand By & Call Out rota as required.
*Provide technical incident reports where requested and provide supporting documentation of incidents.
*Participate in the upkeep of records on servicing of plant and equipment and maintaining the plant asset registers.
*To be willing and capable of using the company Maximo system as a means of day to day working
*Participate in adherence to the Engineering Maintenance Limited Quality System documentation.
*To carry out any reasonable request to perform duties which are normal custom and practice in a maintenance environment
*To obey company rules and maintain a high standard of discipline and dress
*To be knowledgeable and up to date in matters relating to Health and Safety. To attend company sponsored training on Health and Safety or technical aspects when requested
*To be willing to undertake training in other trades, i.e. mechanical fitting, air conditioning to NVQ3 level.
*Ability to work unsupervised.
*To work on any C&W contract site when requested, where such request is reasonable, within the person's competency and their terms of employment.


Qualifications / Skills Required:

a. Technically qualified M&E Maintenance Engineer
