Arkenford is an established market modelling and market Research Agency based in Guildford. We are active in three main areas, namely video gaming & leisure, tourism, and analytical research services.

Job Description
The Role
This role presents an enthusiastic individual with an excellent opportunity to launch their IT career. You will contribute to the on-going development and creation of a variety of web based applications that support the business both internally and externally. You will be entering into a dynamic role which will initially be focused on the web frontend but can potentially expand to cover other areas as your interests and business needs grow.
As a role ideally suited to a motivated self-learner we will favour practical evidence of skills above academic qualifications.
Responsibilities
Creating and maintaining CSS themes for our products and services
Develop and implement both websites and web based applications
Design, develop, test and implement enhancements to existing applications
Liaise with other departments to understand issues and help gather requirements
Produce user documentation for both new and legacy systems
Image selection and use
Technical Skills
Essential
Sound CSS, HTML and JavaScript knowledge
Experience working with photo editing software
A basic understanding of the LAMP stack
Appreciation of the W3C guidelines (or a willingness to learn and follow them)
Desirable
Familiarity with a JavaScript framework (jQuery / Prototype or equivalent)
Experience with a Content Management System (CMS)
A working knowledge of PHP
Experience working with the LAMP stack. (Linux / Apache / MySQL / PHP)
Knowledge of relational databases
An understanding of MVC frameworks
Web services (client and server) using SOAP or Restful APIs
Tracking and SEO technologies
Experience with version control (SVN)
An understanding of statistical techniques

Role potential
You would be joining an expanding IT department at a growing Market Research firm. Projects are varied and can often require a variety of skills to complete.
The successful candidate will be provided with the opportunity to learn new skills based around the entire end to end web application development and support processes. As a result Arkenford would support both informal and formal training, qualifications and courses for members of staff who show appropriate commitment to the company.
