Mechanical Engineer / Marine Engineer (Naval / Submarine)

ROLE:
They are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer / Marine Engineer to be based at the Submarine Support Management Group (SSMG) in Bristol. The Submarine Support Management Group (SSMG) is a long standing partnership that provides professional design, safety and technical support services in the challenging environment of in-service Royal Navy submarines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) The Mechanical Engineer / Marine Engineer will be based at the MoD Abbey Wood in Bristol, where as part of the enduring Ship Systems and Propulsion team, will work jointly with the MoD in a professional, technical and project management support capacity on a variety of projects.
b) The successful delivery of their assigned projects, from contract generation through to client acceptance and final delivery.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) Degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline however applicants with qualifications of an HND/HNC level supported by relevant experience will be considered.
b) Knowledge of MoD working practices, the production of technical reports.
c) A familiarity with submarine design and construction.
d) Experience of developing technical solutions and managing sub-contractors.
e) Ability to manage programme, technical and safety requirements.
f) Experience of delivering to time, quality and budget.
g) Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
h) Strong IT skills, primarily with software packages such as Microsoft Office.
DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) An understanding of the operational aspects of submarines and submarine support.
b) Actively working towards registration as a Chartered Engineer.
You may have experience of the following: Marine Engineer, MoD, Defence, Structural Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Naval Systems Engineer, Submarine, Marine Platforms, Senior Naval Systems Design Engineer, Senior Marine Engineer etc.
