Contracts Negotiator

We currently have a fantastic new requirement for a Contracts Negotiator. This exciting new project will be based in Gloucestershire working for one of our leading blue chip clients. This is a permanent role and you will be required to hold or undergo DV Security Clearance, so please familiarise yourself with the process.

Role Description

Candidate will manage and provide policy, subject matter advice and guidance and be responsible for leading all aspects of Commercial activities to include, Sub-contract generation and acceptance, and new business opportunities. Management, leadership, agility and proactive organisation are critical traits for the successful candidate, this position demands knowledge, confidence and keen communication skills. The candidate will interface with the Senior Leadership Team, the Authority, programme management lead. The candidate will be key in providing Commercial governance to externally delivered projects and programmes.

Negotiate, administer, extend, terminate and renegotiate standard and nonstandard contracts.

Evaluate contract performance to determine necessity for amendments or extensions of contracts, and compliance to contractual obligations.

Maintain communications to ensure timely contract execution by the parties.

Ensure final contract documents are consistent with agreements reached at negotiations. May plan and participate in training of contract practices and negotiations to company personnel.

Skills & Experience

Mandatory

An experienced commercial leader for a team of four Contracts and Subcontracts Professionals is required.

Responsible for co-ordinating subordinate performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions, as well as employee recruitment, selection and training.

Flexibility to work multiple tasks concurrently.

The candidate demonstrates full knowledge and expertise in contract interpretation, bid preparation, claims, modifications, protests, amendments, extensions, nondisclosure, teaming agreements, intellectual property and OCI mitigation.

The candidate demonstrates full knowledge and expertise in subcontract drafting, request for quotation preparation, negotiation, claims, modifications, protests, amendments, and extensions.

Competitive capture experience. Candidate is a skilled negotiator and is responsible for all facets of the negotiation along with contract administration.

Candidate will abide by any US or foreign government regulations, laws and company policies and procedures.

The candidate will maintain the official records of negotiation and accurate files of all correspondence. Will assist in any audits, reviews and special projects as required.

Manages contract and subcontract professionals in the preparation, negotiation and administration of proposals, contracts, and subcontracts including the development of unique special language, in accordance with company policies and procedures and legal requirements.

Acts as an approval authority for proposals.

Counsels management on contractual rights and obligations. Focuses on directing organisation to meet critical schedules, resolve critical/complex technical or operational problems.

Directly participates in establishing and completing many projects and exerts influence in development of overall objectives and long-range goals of the organisation. Maintains frequent contact with equivalent level managers, industry peers and customer representatives.

May direct the planning and participation in training of contract and subcontract practices and negotiations to company personnel.

Desirable

Diverse background in contracts (Commercial, International, and UK MoD), and subcontracts.

Proven Contract management experience of large programs. Intellectual property background.

Experience in capture teams.

Law degree or Contracts certification.

The qualified candidate will possess excellent business acumen and oral and written communication skills. They will also be skilled in interpreting request for proposals and ITT's, developing contract positions and articulating the positions with supporting documentation to management.

Able to demonstrates computer competency and able to work within various contracts and financial systems to update, maintain or extract contract data.

Ability to develop strong positive relationships with customers.
