Managing the Business Development Team, your role as Head of Business Development will be to develop new business within the PLC and SME sector through the team, drive forward our business opportunities and build and maintain effective new relationships with key insurance partners, ensuring that business revenue, profit and strategic targets are achieved.
Basic Salary £45k ote £65k uncapped
Expectations of a Business Development Manager
Develop a strategic sales plan in conjunction with the management team in line with Company objectives.
To provide Leadership Management, Motivation and Training of staff and strategically develop the business.
Devise and deploy all sales objectives including sales targets and budget preparation
Attainment of personal and team sales targets.
Monitor and manage sales process to ensure customer satisfaction and ensure SLAs are met.
Ensure all potential new business are responded to and progressed.
Develop brand awareness and increase new business revenue.
Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information and associated documentation as required to the Commercial Director.
Closing business opportunities either by phone or face to face meetings across the UK and when necessary overnight stays.
Manage your own diary to ensure that your time is spent efficiently and cost effectively, to ensure new business opportunities are achieved in a timely manner.
Responsible for meeting prospective new clients in order to secure new business as well as maintain and develop existing contracts to retain business.
Exploit new business opportunities to enhance the performance of the business at all times.
Be a team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to the overall teams success.
Monitor and manage the performance of the BDM team through MI and accompanied visits.
Highly motivated self starter and new business hunter.
Have experience at closing large deals on a regular basis.
Excellent communicator capable of negotiating and influencing customers both internal and external.
Applicants must have good working knowledge of the insurance market, competitor activity, legal and regulatory frameworks.
Educated to degree level or equivalent you will have insurance sector exposure, the key emphasis will be on new business in the PLC & SME market and a real focus on growing the business.
* Ideally a minimum of 5 years experience managing B2B sales teams.
* Ability to meet targets and deadlines under pressure.
* Proactive, self starter who can think for themselves within guidelines given to them.
