The role:
The role will involve working in the Cool:Gen Portfolio in a team of developers. It will involve analysis, documentation, design, construction, component test, test support and investigation. The Cool:Gen Portfolio covers a number of systems and consequently consists of a number of development teams. The role will be filled by someone who can move between teams, easily fitting into the dynamics of each area. The work is extremely varied, very challenging and requires a good level of technical skills and an ability to quickly accumulate system and business knowledge.

Reporting to a Development Team Leader, activities include analysing of the customer requirements, interpretation of a Requirements Catalogue, interfacing effectively with the Requirements Managers, Software Architects and Lead Developers, interpreting a high level design, documenting the low level design, following best practice during construction, documenting and executing component tests and effectively supporting the System Test team during the test phase. This role requires excellent communication skills.

As a Cool:Gen Developers your main responsibilities will involve:
*Impacting changes in mandays and function points
*Producing high quality design specifications from a high level design and Requirements Catalogue
*Reviewing collegues' design specifications, component test scripts and results and code
*Produce high quality component test specifications
*Construct high quality, efficient code in Cool:Gen and PL/SQL
*Create test data and complete component test execution
*Support system test by investigating potential errors in the code
*Fixing code in a timely, effective manner
*For more senior roles involvement in design meetings, briefings and produce and present high level design solutions to the Client
*For less experienced grades, applications would be welcome from developers with proven logic and development expertise in other areas such as J2EE, Java, VB, .NET who would be interested to re-train and develop their Cool:Gen and PL/SQL development skills

As a Cool:Gen Developer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
This role requires an individual who has experience of working within complex environments and is able to manage their own activities and priorities.

Experience:
Mandatory for experienced grades
*Master" level of competancy in Cool:Gen (7.6 or 8)
*Competent in analysis of requirements
*UNIX
*UNIX Shell Scripting
*Oracle
*SQL skill set
*PL/SQL
*Good PC skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word

The O3-O4 graded role would be suited to an experienced developer with proven analysis and development skills; who is prepared to re-skill within Cool:Gen.

Technical Skills:

*Use of the Datamaker tool
*Co-operative testing
*Function Point counting
*Excel Macros
