Responsibilities will include
Assist the Nursery Manager in the day to day running of the nursery
In the absence of the manager effectively manage the day to day running of the nursery including some financial operations
Predominately room based you will have a passion to provide outstanding care, development and education of children in a happy, secure and stimulating environment across the nursery
Lead and supervise the staff team in completing children's observations, planning, evaluations and profiles within the Early Years Foundation Stage
Promote and develop the new EYFS across the nursery
Lead as the settings SENCO and be responsible for delivering and implementing the high expectations required of this role
Ensure that OFSTED and all other mandatory requirements are regularly reviewed, updated and maintained to a high standard
Take part in staff appraisals and support and encourage individual professional development
Identify staff training needs, develop training plans, evaluate training undertaken and monitor the impact training has on the setting
Essential qualifications, skills and awards
Minimum level 3 qualification in childcare or equivalent
Minimum 3 years post qualifying experience in full day care
Experience at a senior level working with staff, children, parents and outreach agencies.
SENCO training
Extensive knowledge and application of, safeguarding, Equal opportunities, Health and safety and quality systems
Complete use of IT Microsoft offices and photographic package
Knowledge and understanding of key legislations relating to childcare and education
Commitment and ability to contribute to an outstanding OFSTED inspection
Desirable qualifications, awards, skills and experience
Safeguarding/child protection level 2
Health and safety and risk assessment level 2
Food hygiene level 2
Paediatric first aid
Behaviour management
Skills in drama, physical education, music, all aspects of creativity, forest school and nurturing nature and outdoor play
Experience of organising nursery events within the setting and the community
Skills required
Experience at senior level of supporting and leading a staff team to continue to improve best practice
Excellent communication verbal and written
Ability to plan and organise your own and the team's workload
Good time management with the ability to set targets, ensure their achievements and organise systems
Exceptional skills in people management.
