Back-up & Data Management Technician

Location: North East

Salary: up to 38K

This role is to provide expert level technical skills within a large commercial organisation, providing 3rd line support for complex technical issues, liaising with other teams to aid with fault resolution.

Experience:

- Experience of high availability solutions including clustering technologies and Disaster Recovery setups
- Strong experience with IBM and EMC enterprise storage solutions
- Strong experience with enterprise data management and backup solutions

Candidates will be expected to have technical knowledge, skills and expertise with some/all of the following technologies:

- Tivoli Storage Manager
- CommVault
- EMC Networker/EMC DiskXtender/EMC Replistor
- EMC EmailXtender/EMC AutoStart/EMC Backup Advisor
- Veritas Backup Exec/Veritas NetBackup
- Evault
- Legato Disk/EmailXtender
- Symantec

This person will have demonstrable experience of maintenance and support disciplines within a range of SAN Storage and Enterprise Back-up platforms; operating across Windows, Linux & Unix Operating Systems.

Responsibilities:

- As part of a wider team, provide support and take ownership for incident and problem resolution within given SLA targets, liaising with 3rd parties and external suppliers as necessary to resolve faults
- Review, plan, implement and test changes to existing or new infrastructure, software and system configuration; ensuring technical validity, impact and risk mitigation is managed appropriately
- Use technical knowledge, problem determination and problem solving skills to resolve and eliminate underlying causes of failure demand affecting performance or stability
