SQL Developer - Cheadle, Stockport, Cheshire Circa £30-35K + Benefits. As part of its ambitious development plans to grow the business, our client is now seeking to appoint a SQL Developer / DBA with commercial experience with MS SQL to maintain the existing solutions and contribute to the development of additional solutions.

These solutions are built upon SQL Server 2005 / 2008 and the candidate will be expected to create and optimise high performance stored procedures. They will also be expected to administer the multiple databases / servers to ensure the performance, optimisation and availability of our data.

The candidate will also take a lead role in the design and implementation of a new data warehousing solution.

In addition there will also be an opportunity to become involved with the development of Windows based utilities, and contribute to the development of future web applications.

Key Responsibilities

Create Stored Procedures / Views to support new systems and reporting functionality
Lead input into creation of a new data warehousing solution
Optimise SQL code to ensure high performance data access
Maintenance of SQL backup schedules
Maintenance of automated administrative jobs
Optimisation of the SQL Server configurations in line with best practice
Dealing with faults on our SQL databases
Controlling access and maintaining the integrity and security of our databases
Creation / maintenance of relevant documented procedures


Essential Skills/Experience

3 years + commercial experience within a similar role
Commercial MS SQL 2005 / 2008 experience
Demonstrable experience in database administration
Excellent problem solving skills
Proactive and resourceful
Any VB.Net experience is desirable
Any ASP.Net experience is an advantage
Passion for IT technologies
