Senior Electrical Network Augmentation Engineer

Must be happy to work/relocate to the ACT

The primary purpose of this role is to support the Network Augmentation Manager to recommend strategies and plans for network augmentation, extension and expansion in order to maintain sufficient network capacity at the desired level of performance to meet forecast demand both in established (brownfield) and new extension areas (greenfield) of the network. The role will also develop and review network augmentation project briefs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

* Investigate network modelling outputs provided by the Asset Strategy Section to determine likely load growth and capacity requirements

* Recommend solutions to address load growth and capacity challenges

* Apply technical knowledge and skills as a discipline engineer to support development of the following:
o Network augmentation recommendations
o Project briefs to address network load growth, capacity, extension and utilisation requirements
o Augmentation acceptance
o Application of whole life costing principles

* Review proposed network augmentation solutions and project briefs provided by other Network Augmentation Engineers

* Provide input into network design criteria to meet risk management, investment return, regulatory and technical requirements

Other duties:

* Pro-actively liaise with the other client Asset Strategy and Planning engineers and other parties both within and outside the Organisation, as required, to ensure that growth requirements and solutions are identified

* Act as a technical leader and mentor to the less senior planning Engineers across the Division

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

* System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) - planned and unplanned(where outage cause relates to asset failure due to overloading, high utilization, network load constraints)

* System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI) - planned and unplanned (where outage cause relates to asset failure due to overloading, high utilization, network load constraints)

* Failure rates against specific asset classes

* Technical Regulatory Breaches (network design-related)

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

* Tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering

* Post graduate qualifications in business administration or a commercial discipline preferred
