Java Developer - J2EE, HTML, Javascript, DB2

The Support Java Developer will be responsible for supporting all aspects of HMV and Waterstone's eCommerce sites during and out of normal office hours.

key aspects of the role will include:

* Responding to issues that affect the availability of the eCommerce sites

* Where necessary, aid in the production of User Requirement Specification with relevant Users for assigned developments.

* Where applicable, aid in the production of Functional System Design in conjunction with relevant Users and Developer for assigned developments.

* Production of Release documentation for assigned developments.

* Monitor availability and customer experience

* Management of assigned internal and external developments

* Ensure that all assigned developments conform to the documented development cycle.

* Undertake ad-hoc assignments as required

* Programming, testing and implementation of new software

* Analysis and correction of reported software faults.

* Maintain version control of programming assets, using existing tools and procedures.

* Ensure that current service levels are met on an ongoing basis

* Ensure service levels are met for all assigned developments.

* Ensure service levels are applicable to working practices for both internal and external developments.

* Liaise closely with other IT support teams to ensure synergies

* Maintain relationships with other teams within the Businesses

* Assign tasks to third party support teams

* Provide support to line manager.

* Undertake programming and ad-hoc assignments as required.

* Provide regular feedback to the PTL or senior developer who has assigned the task.

* Ensure routine duties are carried out on time and with appropriate diligence

the ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

* Good communicator

* Self motivated and good team player

* Strong customer service ethic

* Excellent Java programming skills (J2EE)

* Knowledge of WebSphere Application Server

* HTML, Javascript

* Knowledge of relational database preferably DB2

* Good ability to understand new concepts and technology

* Experience of XML and iSeries desirable but not essential
