About the role

This is an incredibly exciting time for everyone here at the National Trust. We've set ourselves an ambitious goal - that
everyone in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will feel connected to our special places and the work we do, in fact,
feel like a member. And with a smarter, more efficient, more effective and more responsive National Trust, we'll deliver
just that. Working directly with our Chief Architect, you'll provide technical direction as well as objective advice and
support to the IT department as a whole. You'll produce technical solutions and designs for business and infrastructure
projects that support our strategic vision. Seeking out and recommending exciting new solutions that align with our
strategic architectural roadmap, you'll deliver value for money solutions, on time, every time. And, when needed, you'll
use your pragmatic approach to problem solving to work with project teams and to come up with a bold and bright solution,
whatever the challenge. Whether you're working with IT Business Partners, SMEs, developers, analysts or third parties,
you'll love getting stuck into every single solution aspect, from design to development to production.

About you

An expert in technical design, you'll know all about MS desktop and server operating and collaboration systems, as well
as application architecture, design and support, Unix and database design and management. You'll have an impressive track
record in IT security and infrastructure architecture, too. Enthusiastic and influential, organised and
detail-orientated, you're a brilliant communicator, both written and verbally. You appreciate the importance of building
and managing strong relationships with colleagues at all levels and have the know-how and enthusiasm to explain complex
issues to others. A team player, you're at your best working with others and getting results.

It would be great if you had good working knowledge of a project management methodology. An understanding frameworks
alongside a solid understanding of data, application, security, infrastructure and integration architectures, would be
even better.

Incredibly rewarding

We expect a lot, but we'll offer a great deal in return, starting with stimulating and challenging work and the
opportunity to help us achieve our bold ambitions. We value your contribution, recognise the importance of a work-life
balance, and are committed to your continued development. You can also look forward to free admission to all our
incredible places, plus a helpful 20% off at our shops, cafes and restaurants. But they're just the benefits we can tell
you about here. There are lots more at the National Trust Website.

About us

There's no other organisation like the National Trust. No other organisation that brings such an incredible array of
places and spaces to life. No other organisation with such an extraordinary wealth of talent, expertise and insight.
Today, we're helping more and more people to enjoy unforgettable adventures and fantastic days out at our amazing places
across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
