Educated to HNC level or equivalent in electrical / control engineering

Applying legislation and BS EN Standards relating to electrical and control engineering safety, design and installation

Business Health, Safety and Environmental Standards and Policies relevant to electrical and control project activities

Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment of intended electrical and control project work activities

Adherence to Safe Working Procedures and safe systems of work

Effective Health, Safety and Environmental control of electrical contractor activities

Undertaking behaviour observations and procedures for reporting incidents and near misses

Working knowledge of CDM regulations relating to electrical and control project activities

Working knowledge of DSEAR requirements relating to electrical and control equipment and installations

Implementing P&T Quality Assurance procedures and work instructions

Specifying the requirements for electrical installations with the necessary compliance to legislative regulations and engineering standards

Applying business commercial policies relating to issuing of enquiries and order placement

Evaluating tenders against user requirements specifications

Controlling a safe and well managed electrical project activities, with contractors completing their tasks safely and efficiently to agreed time and cost

Effectively and formally handing-over to customer and closure of projects

Contributing to project completion reviews, as required

Applying business engineering standards, policies and guidance documents relating to electrical activities

Installing electrical and control equipment, and cabling, to meet relevant regulations and engineering standards

Electrical LV power distribution systems and switchgear used in the industrial environment

AC & DC drive systems for controlling motors used in the industrial environment

Electrical control systems, including all aspects of MCCs, PLCs, remote I/O, relays and contactor systems

Lighting systems with the necessary compliance to legislative regulations and engineering standards

Basic programming and fault finding on PLC systems used within the steel industry

Identifying and ensuring that correct means of isolation and immobilisation of equipment is carried out prior to commence of any work activities on specific items of equipment

Correct and safe use of test equipment for determining electrical and control system integrity and diagnosis of faults

Inspection and testing of electrical installations and commissioning of electrical control systems to ensure that they function in a safe and correct manner
