An opportunity has arisen for a Lead Mechanical Project Engineer (Process Plant) to join a company based in Warwick, West Midlands. The Lead Mechanical Project Engineer (Process Plant) must have the ability to understand customer requirements and specifications and must also be computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. The ideal candidate for the Lead Mechanical Project Engineer (Process Plant) post will need the willingness and flexibility to work both in an office environment and to travel nationally and internationally for on-site visits. The ideal candidate must have a flexible approach, be self driven and able to perform well under pressure.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
*Provide engineering expertise for proposals in conjunction with relevant technical authorities.
*Plan, supervise, conduct and report on project engineering activities in conjunction with technical authorities and other members of the project team.
*Plan primary engineering data.
*Supervise production of primary engineering data.
*Generate tender specifications and requisitions for the purchasing department to obtain external bids.
*Conduct bid technical analysis
*Gain customer approval of primary engineering data
*Produce engineering calculations as required
*Arrange and document internal and external project design reviews
*Checking and approval of internal and supplier drawings.
*Production of equipment schedules
*Preparation of Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
*Design Risk Assessments (Safety Awareness)
*Preparation of Operating and Maintenance Manuals
*Approval of supplier purchased equipment.
*Ensure suppliers submit drawings for approval.
*Arrange and document design risk assessments.
*Identify all applicable specifications, statutory codes and regulations. Prepare CE declaration document.
*Review and agree with Commissioning Engineer data to be collected/measured during commissioning.
*Approval of commission data once collected to ensure plant is performing as designed.
*Agree installation methods and sequence with installation engineer, including transport, access, timing and logistics.
*Produce O&M and T&S files prior to start of commissioning.
*Conduct site surveys
*Visit sites, both Nationally and Internationally, during installation (where appropriate) and contribute to equipment snag lists.
*Ensure all drawings produced are checked prior to issue.
*Ensure all documentation is issued in a controlled manner using document issue note system.
*Ensure that all suppliers' drawings are controlled by document issue note system.
*Undertake the role of Project Manager when required as requested by your immediate Manager/Director.
*Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by your immediate Manager/Director.
*Exercise flexibility when asked to perform a different role for a short period.
Key Skills and Candidate Requirements
Essential
*HNC or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering or related discipline or proven experience
*Knowledge of automotive/related industries
*Knowledge of mechanical engineering
*Ability to carry out process design calculations
*Experience of process plant layout
*Experience of producing tender specifications - Process equipment specification and selection (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, control devices)
*Ability to read engineering drawings and diagrams
*Experience of technical analysis of quotes
*High level of written & oral communication
*Can communicate in a logical manner
*Ability to communicate with customers/suppliers at all levels
*Logical and systematic approach to tasks
*Good problem solving skills
*Numerate & literate
*Computer literate - MS Office
Desirable
*Paint plant experience
*Experience of oven design
*MS Project
*MS Visio
*SAP experience - preparation of detailed parts lists, purchase requisitions and specification documents within SAP.
