Network / Systems Administrator (Web Infrastructure), to 35k

Position: Internet Services Analyst
Location: Cambridge
Salary: 30-35k

ROLE:
The Network / Systems Administrator will be part of a team of Internet Analyst`s providing high quality technical support function for all internet and intranet service provision. Accountable for the administration, support and development of our client`s web hosting infrastructure, they will investigate, diagnose, progress and action all operational events, ensuring that issues are escalated where appropriate. They will also carry out assigned tasks within projects, by identifying requirements and evaluating technical options.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Responsible for ensuring all changes/maintenance to the web infrastructure are correctly recorded in accordance to the departments policies/procedures.
b) Perform security audits against web applications and services.
c) Responsible for web availability and the compliance to agreed SLA`s.
d) Perform the analysis of security logs from key systems to identify patterns of activity that represent breaches of security, raising these as appropriate, making recommendations to resolve and tracking to remediation.
e) Investigate security incidents, producing reports to show impact of incidents to the business.
f) Responsible for the development of the web infrastructure and working practises to assist the business to take forward the website.
g) Ensure that technical risks are brought to the attention of the Internet Services team, and if necessary to the attention of the IT manager.
h) Recommend proactive, innovative IT solutions for the improvement of IT design and operation whenever and wherever possible.
i) Ensure that our client`s web infrastructure develops so that it`s capable of meeting evolving requirements whilst maintaining appropriate security levels.
j) To participate in, and on occasion lead, specific project teams.
k) Production of weekly/monthly reports.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) Educated to Degree level in a computing related subject or equivalent experience.
b) Good knowledge of IT Web infrastructure (hardware, databases, client devices, operating systems, traffic management, web site hosting, active directory services, importance of systems redundancy etc) used within a web farm environment.
c) Can apply technical knowledge to day-to-day tasks to deliver reliable, low-maintenance services which meet user requirements within agreed budgets and timescales.
d) Knowledge of IT systems and operational procedures in use in the ICT Department.
e) Familiar with the various project documents and Agile methodology.
f) Enthusiastic, highly motivated and a proactive team player, individually or with clients.
g) Excellent communicator that can explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical clients.
h) Able to effectively manage their time and workload under pressure to tight deadlines.
