Our client, a registered charity in West London, is seeking an efficient candidate with excellent attention to detail and use of initiative to join their Communications Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to take that next step up and write their own press releases.
* You will deliver the organisations media strategy, devise and manage the social media strategy enabling relationship building with stakeholders with innovation and creativity to promote the organisation and its work.
* You will lead on delivery of a portfolio of communications plans and assist in the implementation of sound communication strategies, with the emphasis on external press and public relations which will involve acting as the key contact for media. Implement a proactive and reactive media strategy by producing suitable press releases and editorial, organising and conducting media interviews where agreed, evaluating the effectiveness of activities for continuous improvement and measurement.
* Build good working relationships with identified key media contacts ensuring contacts are relevant and up to date. Plan and project manage overall communication strategies for individual campaigns or research outputs, this may include events and other non-desk based activity from time to time. Produce effective, consistent and integrated communications for a diverse target audience including press releases, some member correspondence as required and website content management, ensuring website content reflects current external press activity accurately. Evaluate and monitor press coverage and report progress to senior management.
* Support other marketing & communications activities where required i.e. exhibitions, events, shows and other public facing events. Participate on the press office team media rota to ensure accessibility at all times (especially out of normal office hours) to the media. There is a requirement to maintain a high degree of pro-activity in actively "selling in" stories to relevant media.
Key competencies include:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to write press releases, proofread and edit
* Organisational skills, effective time management, forward planning and attention to detail
* To meet deadlines and able to work under pressure
* Uses own initiative, works independently and as part of a team
