We are recruiting for Electrical Technicians to be based at Birmingham (with opportunities also at Derby)
You will be responsible for the construction, maintenance and repair of the supply network up to 33kV (and sanctions for tests up to 11kV). This includes associated paperwork and documentation.
You will also be expected to:
* make any necessary health and safety briefings/arrangements and issue documentation
* schedule work plans and monitor the quality of the team's work
* organise and cost individual projects and make effective use of contracts
* assess and minimise the impact of works on customers and respond to faults within specified deadlines
Specific skilled work will include:
* construction of distribution substations, installation or alteration of associated overhead lines and plant
* Laying and jointing cables up to 11kV
* Carrying out routine inspection, maintenance and repair of underground, overhead and substation equipment up to 33kV
* Locating, identifying and testing insulation, phasing and continuity of cables
You will need to be a committed team player with excellent communication skills also able to work on your own. A flexible attitude and an ability to cope in high-pressure situations are a must.
The client is responsible for delivering power to customers living in the Midlands, the South West of England and South Wales. The network covers some of the most beautiful and diverse terrain in the UK, from highly populated urban areas to remote rural areas.
