The Role
A high calibre Physics or Engineering graduate or post-graduate is sought to join a team of world-class experts in the design and development of high-performance electro-magnetic actuation systems. Your primary responsibility will be electro-magnetic design, analysis and optimisation using world-class design/simulation tools and laboratory facilities to push the leading edge of actuation technology. Design work will be taken through to the prototype and testing phases, and will be strongly linked to our centre of expertise for magnetic materials selection and characterization.
Because Conekt is both the centre of new technology development for TRW Automotive, and also provides external consultancy; projects, applications and customers are interesting and varied. For TRW, you will be working on the high-performance actuators, motors and sensors which lie at the heart of the next generation of vehicle systems. For clients outside TRW, a variety of aerospace, automotive, industrial and domestic applications.
What you'll do
Electro-magnetic design, analysis and optimisation of motors, linear actuators and sensors, including use of finite element based simulation
Customisation and development of design and optimization tools, whilst developing programming skills in eg Matlab and C
Develop software for test automation, data processing and analysis
Develop mathematical models of electro-magnetic devices for incorporation into system models
Contribute to presentations, publicity events and customer demonstrations.
Support magnetic material analysis and testing
Be involved in prototype build and testing
