Optimisation Engineer
Manchester/Hamilton

A global telecommunications company is currently recruiting for an Optimisation Engineer to be based in either the Manchester or Hamilton (Lanarkshire) areas on a contractual basis.

As an Optimisation Engineer reporting to the Optimisation Team Leader you will be expected to analyse performance statistics and drive data as well as providing reports and recommendations to produce and implement changes.

The Optimisation Engineer will;
*Analyse performance statistics for both counter and drive based data for 2G and 3G Performance Data
*Make recommendations for parametric and/or hardware configuration changes to optimise performance
*Progress optimisation initiatives and participate in projects to introduce new technology/functionality into the network
*Produce summary reports on radio network performance
*Be involved with 2G and 3G frequency planning

Candidates for the role of Optimisation Engineer will ideally have the following skills;
*Expert 2G and 3G mobile technologies knowledge
*Frequency planning experience using both manual and AFP tools
*Ability to demonstrate an end to end understanding of 2G and 3G systems
*A working knowledge of hardware and software features and constraints for 2G and 3G
*Ability to collect and analyse data from the 2G and 3G networks to resolve problems and make recommendations for improving QoS
*Ability to analyse air interface signalling to help resolve problems and make recommendations for improving QoS
*Ability to develop original processes and procedures
*Ability to deliver innovative solutions to challenging problems
*Ability to multitask, work on own initiative whilst under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines

Applicants for the role of Optimisation Engineer may be considered to have an advantage if they;
*Have strong written and oral communication skills
*Show determination for the achievement of goals
*Can demonstrate the ability to build and improve working relationships with key internal and external customer and suppliers
*Have the ability to demonstrate strong prioritisation skills and work to deadlines

A qualification to degree level or equivalent in Telecommunication Engineering with expert Optimisation or O&M experience of 2G would be advantageous for the role of Optimisation Engineer.
