We are seeking to appoint a Head of Maths to work in an independent SEN school in Birmingham commencing in September 2012. The role will entail working with pupils with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
The successful applicant will need to:
- have a love of teaching, first and foremost
- have experience of working in an EBD or challenging environment with pupils
- have a passion for the education of children
- be happy to liaise and work with all the staff
- monitor, assess and appraise the quality of teaching within the department, both formally and informally
- ensure members of the department have access to relevant INSET
- produce and revise schemes of work in line with the school's guidelines and keep records up-to-date.
- be aware of, and adaptable with, pupils with special needs
- be able to provide a warm and stimulating working environment
- to ensure consistent assessment and record keeping of pupils' work across the department
- have good communication skills and the ability to manage resources.
- be empathetic towards the needs of children
- have a consistent expectation of high standards, both in and out of the classroom.
- be resourceful, understanding and patient, ready to deal with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- be conscious of requirements of other allied departments
- keep up to date with school policy documents
This role is a long-term role with the view of becoming permanent and interviews are being held immediately.
