Our client, a large school in Birmingham are seeking a Director of Learning for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to start in September 2012.
Overall responsibility:
- To provide effective leadership and management of the SEND team, building and maintaining an effective team which enhances the quality of learning and achievement for all SEND pupils
- Maintaining the SEND register, testing, information and support strategies
- Co-ordinate intervention and support to raise achievement
- Training the TA team and subject teachers to best support their students and provide an inclusion provision
- Provide strategic reports on the progress of SEND students.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualified teacher Status
- Recent relevant service training in current education practice, including management
- Thorough knowledge of the Secondary curriculum
- Thorough knowledge of current SEND practices in education
- Successful teaching experience in the whole secondary age range
- Experience of being in a management or leadership position of responsibility for SEND
- Experience and good working knowledge of the National Curriculum and associated statutory testing
- A detailed job desrciption and person specification can be provided upon request.
