We are currently seeking a Qualified DT Resistant Materials Teacher for a secondary school in Manchester to fill a permanent Job as a result of a current staff member leaving for a leadership position elsewhere

THE JOB
To teach pupils within the school and to carry out such other associated duties as are reasonably
assigned by the Headteacher.
To demonstrate
- A commitment to personalised learning
- To teach, according to their educational needs, pupils assigned to him/her in the allocated
classes
- To monitor and assess pupils' achievements and progress in accordance with arrangements
agreed within the faculty and school
- To have high expectations of every student, giving them the confidence and skills to succeed.
- To use student data to inform learning and teaching
- To develop a wide range of teaching strategies
- To control and oversee the use and storage of books and other teaching materials provided for
class usage
- To promote high standards of behaviour in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of
the school
- To contribute to Department/Faculty and Pastoral meetings
- To promote equal opportunities within the school and to seek to ensure the implementation of
the school's equal opportunities policy
- To contribute to the pastoral life of the school as a form tutor
- To work collaboratively with support assistants
Key Tasks
- To set challenging learning objectives for every lesson
- To plan lessons using the agreed school proforma in addition to other long term planning
- To teach the lessons allocated
- To set and mark homework in line with school and faculty policy
- To monitor and evaluate pupil performance and progress in accordance with the school's
arrangements
- To monitor and report to parents on the progress of pupils in allocated classes, groups or forms
- To mark class attendance registers
- To prepare appropriate teaching resources
- To monitor and report to the SEN coordinator on the progress of students with Special Needs
Qualifications
- A teaching qualification such as PGCE or GTP or Bachelor of Education and Qualified Teacher Status
Knowledge
- Excellent subject knowledge
- Knowledge and understanding of the learning process and the needs of children
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum and of public examination requirements
- Knowledge of how their specialism relates to other areas of the curriculum and how it delivers crosscurricular
skills
- Knowledge of what constitutes good teaching
- To know how pastoral structures support the learning process

Skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- The ability to take the initiative when needed
- Excellent communication skills
- Good ICT skills
- The ability to plan, organise and deliver lessons which cater for all abilities
- Good organisational skills
- The ability to employ a range of strategies to promote good behaviour
