A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Oracle DBA to join an independently owned IT Consultancy. They are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic and skilled Oracle DBA candidate to provide reliable and effective support to a team delivering a major project within the public sector.
The Oracle DBA will be responsible for supporting the database and ensuring their performance, availability and security while working closely with one of the company's high profiled clients. The DBA candidate will manage all primary DBA activities such as checking on table space problems, fragmentation, nightly/weekly backup problems and responding to any Oracle errors.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist in the build, configuration and deployment of infrastructure environments for both production, DR, support and development
- Ensuring availability and performance of the database that support the system.
- Work with team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the database and to ensure high availability and optimum performance
- To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime
- Providing trend analysis to the service management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.
- Responsible for problem escalation to the Project Manger and third parties as appropriate
- The improvement and maintenance of the database to include rollout and upgrades
- Implementation and release of database changes as submitted by development team
Technical Skills Required:
The candidate should have experience of implementing and supporting enterprise infrastructure in a Linux/Apache/Java/JBOSS/Oracle/Windows/ environment and specifically:
- Redhat/Linux implementation/Administrations including load balancing/Clustering
- Oracle administration and Linux Installation
- SAN implementation and administration
- Experience of monitoring systems and ideally Nagios
- Experience of implementing and monitoring NetBackup systems
- Server hardware configuration knowledge

- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Good team player
- The ability to work to agreed deadlines
- Ability to work at detailed and abstract levels
- Self-learner
- Degree educated with minimum of 2.2
