Project Engineer - Electromechanical systems
Phoenix Inspection Systems Ltd has earned its reputation as a leading supplier of non-destructive testing (NDT) technology from ultrasonic transducers to turnkey inspection solutions throughout the last 30 years. We have a global reputation for providing high quality transducer positioning and manipulation systems to power generation (nuclear and civil), oil and gas, petrochemical, and rail industries. We additionally have a number of exciting developments within the aerospace, marine, and wind energy sectors. As we continue to explore growth opportunities and expand the company we are seeking a talented engineer to fulfil the key position of Project Engineer within the Applied Engineering department. In particular we are looking for a team member with a mechatronic or electrical engineering background to design and manage all electrical aspects for our automated manipulators and control systems.
You will take a leading role delivering custom scanning systems to meet client's inspection requirements. You will have responsibility for development projects from conception to delivery including customer liaison to determine specifications, proposal and quote generation in response to tender requests, project costing and timescale planning, contract negotiation, coordinating mechanical designers (providing specifications, reviewing and approving designs for manufacture), generating electronic designs and electrical wiring schematics, approving bills of materials issued to manufacturing and procurement, overseeing assembly and resolving design / build issues, scheduling and performing acceptance tests to obtain customer approval, produce documentation to support the equipment operation and to meet applicable standards (CE marking etc.), ensuring each project is delivered on time and on budget. All work is undertaken within our ISO 9001 quality assurance processes to ensure an auditable trail of each project. In addition there are further opportunities to identify and develop standard products, and to work with the Sales and Marketing department to find new markets to widen the company's portfolio.
The ideal candidate would have the following skills or experience:
* Engineering degree
* Competency with Microsoft Office suite
* Experience with electro-mechanical systems
* Project management experience
* Budget control experience
Other skills or experience that could be of benefit:
* Robotics
* Programming (PLC, embedded hardware, software)
* Mechanical design (3D CAD)
* Knowledge of electro-mechanical standards
* Knowledge of CE standards
* Knowledge of NDT / ultrasonic testing
