Northumberland National Park Authority has responded to recent legislation - the Localism Act 2011 - by redefining its board member Code of Conduct. The Authority would like to appoint an Independent Person to assist in promoting and maintaining high standards of governance and conduct amongst all its appointed members - county and parish councillors plus nationally appointed members.
The Independent Person will be consulted on whether to investigate complaints and to make a decision on an investigated complaint. Other conduct matters will also be a matter for consultation with the Independent Member, including commenting on investigation reports concerning a member who is subject to an allegation.
