WKRS is a non-maintained special school for pupils with complex special educational needs. It has over 90 co-educational day and residential pupils on role aged 5-19.

Due to a combination of staff moving on and the school catering for more complex young people we require for Autumn 2012:
Teaching Assistant (TA1)
Salary dependent upon experience and qualifications
50/52 weeks per annum, including all school holidays
You will have proven experience of working in a classroom environment, preferably with pupils who have learning difficulties and/or behavioural difficulties and ASD. You will possess patience, energy and enthusiasm and be prepared to engage young people with significant complex needs in sports, the creative arts, outdoor pursuits and life skills activities. A recent, relevant qualification in Teaching and Learning is essential. The role is 32.5 hours per week Monday to Friday during term time, but flexibility is required to cover additional support.
Health Care Assistant
Salary dependent upon experience and qualification 42/52 weeks per annum, including all school holidays
You will be supporting the School Nurse in meeting the health and welfare needs of
our young people. You will be expected to assist with the daily running of the medical department, advising pupils, dispensing medications, following protocols and procedures and dealing with medical emergencies. Some pupils may require support with intimate care needs. Effective communication skills in dealing with parents/carers and professionals are essential, as are good IT skills, accurate record keeping and an understanding of confidentiality. The role is 30 hours per week Monday to Friday during term time but flexibility is required to allow additional hours to cover sickness or similar duties.
