Associate in Commercial (Information Technology) - Leeds

Our client is an international firm with an exciting opportunity for a Commercial/IT Solicitor to join their team in Leeds. Their company commercial group handles major projects for some of the world's largest clients and the group includes a wide variety of experts, from deal makers and banking experts through to contract drafters and IP specialists.

As an Associate, you will work as part of a team undertaking both general commercial and technology related work on behalf of a wide range of businesses in a wide range of sectors.

In relation to technology you will be advising on agreements related to system development, outsourcing, software licensing, hardware and IT-biased telecoms. They also deal in e-commerce, data protection and specialist areas such as cloud computing and escrow.

In relation to commercial the team advises on outsourcing, supply, distribution and agency arrangements as well as significant regulatory contracting arrangements. The work - which can be centred on the UK or be international in nature - is highly varied. You may find yourself taking responsibility for large projects, as well as smaller, standalone matters.

Key responsibilities::

You will be expected to be able to handle transactions independently as well as work with others as a member of a team on major projects. You will also become involved in business development. The successful candidate's primary focus will be IT, helping to develop the existing IT practice in Leeds.

Skills and experience::

You will have meaningful experience of working on significant commercial/technology projects and a good knowledge of general contracting in the widest sense. Experience of working with the technology sector is essential.
