Introduction:
My client is one of the UK's leading support services companies, They deliver many key services including, design, build, manage, operate and maintaining assets, Dealing with companies both in the UK and overseas, Supplying customers in a wide variety of industry sectors including, Defence, Marine, Naval, MoD, Nuclear, Communications, Energy and Transportation. They now have an immediate requirement for a Senior Avionics Technician based at their site in Ipswich, Suffolk.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the Search and Rescue (SAR) task at Ipswich on the SKIOS contract.
This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in the Armed Forces i.e Royal Navy, Royal Air Force or Army (REME) and have a strong background within an avionics role and have worked on Sea King helicopters ideally on the SKIOS contract.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake aircraft maintenance within trade as tasked by the Shift Supervisor.
- Operation and maintenance of aircraft ground support equipment.
- Preparation of aircraft for road or air transportation.
- Maintenance in support of storage tasks.
- Other engineering tasks in support of the SAR operation as directed by the Shift Supervisor.
- Aircraft washing and cleaning.
- Carry out independent inspections.
- Determine the level of flight servicing required after maintenance.
- Flight Line Operations Aircraft movement and handling.
- Aircraft marshalling.
- Preparation of aircraft for flight and security of aircraft after flight, FOD clearance and dispersal area security checks.
- Complete all aircraft and equipment maintenance and documentation in accordance with published Procedures and Instructions.
- Carry out flight line operations in accordance with published Procedures and Instructions.
- Provide technical support to other SAR sites as required.
- Comply with all relevant Health, Safety and Environment regulations and exercise a Duty of Care promoting a positive approach towards workplace health and safety.
- Promote best practice and report bad practice and non-compliance to ensure continual improvement in the organisation.
Applicant Requirements:
- The successful candidate must have a fully accredited Aircraft Apprenticeship, Service equivalent trade training, NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- You must have the experience to demonstrate the practical and theoretical standards required.
- Familiar with the SKIOS contract.
- Appropriate Sea King trade group courses.
- Full driving licence as you will be required to travel to other sites.
- Aircraft engineering including demonstrable supervisory experience.
- MOD aircraft engineering procedures.
- Flight Line Operations experience.
