My client is a very successful and busy manufacturer of metal pressings and welded assemblies predominately for the
Automotive Industry. They are seeking to recruit a Project Manager to manage and take ownership of engineering tasks
associated with New Product Introductions from conceptual design through to production, testing and customer handover to
ensure completion within agreed timescales to the required quality standard and within budget.
Key Tasks will include: -
* Handling projects from concept to completion.
* Responsible for all prototyping and preliminary builds of new products.
* Identify and source new technology and suppliers.
* Manage trials from trial planning stage through to completion and presentation of
data.
* Ensure effective communication with customers, project team members and
suppliers, by chairing weekly project meetings.
* Responsible for monitoring progress against project schedules to meet milestones
and controlling costs against budget.
* Dealing with costing and negotiation.
* Suggest and review opportunity for estimating improvement / modification.
* Interact with different internal and external constituents, including other
manufacturers.
* Purchasing tooling, gauges and capital equipment within timing and budget targets.
* Administering new product introduction process to ensure program needs are
achieved.
The successful candidate will have: -
A proven track record in Project Engineering.
Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering solutions including materials, finishes and heat treatment.
Good understanding of prototyping, manufacturing processes and costing.
Customer facing and commercial awareness.
Automotive industry experience.
Working knowledge of pressings and assemblies.
Excellent communication skills.
Good supporting qualifications.
