Job Title: Senior NPI Engineer

The successful Senior NPI Engineer will join an expanding company with a long, consistent track record of development and growth within the Air and Land systems business of the defence industry. The New Product Introduction Engineer's role will be to provide electronic engineering and design support to Production, Purchasing and Commercial departments. The NPI Engineer will need to have excellent communication skills, be well organised, robust, self-motivated and have strong commercial awareness.
Key duties/responsibilities:
*Ensure that document/drawing changes are introduced into production in a manner that achieves "right first time" cost effective manufacture.
*Maintain and produce Manufacturing Instructions (Layouts) and Route Cards to ensure good product quality and repeatability in production.
*Update MRP system in line with major product overhaul & new enquiries.
*Produce cost effective design solutions for electronic product modifications in event of customer changes, component obsolescence or product improvement.
*Identify and specify the requirement for production tooling and assembly aids for existing products.
*Liaise with appropriate departments for the procurement of tooling and assembly aids necessary for the production process.
*Manage manufacture of 'Special To Type' test equipment, either in-house or subcontract.
*Provide a technical input to product & test equipment fault finding and diagnostics.
Desirable:
*An Electro-Mechanical engineering background, ideally with a broader experience of manufacturing
*ONC/HND/Degree in an appropriate technical discipline with 5 year or more experience in a manufacturing support engineering role software / systems disciplines
*Excellent Microsoft Word skills
The applicant will be required to obtain UK MOD security clearance prior to appointment.
