Our client is a newly established niche legal aid firm that deals with children matters, but primarily child care law. Their core team has worked successfully together for over 10 years. It is a busy, hard working team with a friendly atmosphere. They have a central office in Sheffield and 9 satellite offices. They have invested in IT to enable efficient working that can also be conducted remotely. They have a case management system and their network is hosted. Their aim is to become as paperless as possible. It is an exciting time to join the firm as they anticipate significant development over the next couple of years.
They wish to recruit a Business Manager/Legal Cashier who is dynamic and well organised. The ideal candidate would be an experienced legal cashier who can oversee the work of their financial administrator but who can also undertake general office management. A good knowledge of IT is essential. Their view is that structured systems are key to a well organised business and they are seeking a candidate who is familiar with using IT to full effect to implement such systems. Experience of legal aid would also be beneficial.
Main duties:
Legal Cashier :
-Responsibility for compliance with SRA account rules
- Some cashiering duties and overseeing the work of the financial administrator
Bank rec, payroll, VAT
-Provision of monthly management reports
Business management:
-General office management (maintenance of office, insurance, stationary, practicing certificates, health and safety)
-Induction and recruitment of new staff
-Liaison with satellite offices
- Attendance at management meetings
Basic HR duties:
IT:
- Overseeing provision and development of case management system
-Responsibility for PCs, laptops, photocopier/scanner, mobile phones, digital dictation, telephone
System
-Co-ordination of development of website
