Senior software Engineer (C/Linux/Scripting)

The R&D Operations Tools team evaluates, enhances and supports a variety of global software applications that are used by
engineers offices around the world. The goal of the team is to provide tools that improve the efficiency and productivity
of the R&D organisation. We have a vacancy for a senior engineer. This will suit an individual seeking the freedom to
make technical choices, to shape tool usage in an Agile development environment, working within a small and highly
motivated team.

Main duties and responsibilities
*To understand how R&D software engineers work and identify how their use of tools can be enhanced to improve the overall
efficiency of the development process. Through workshops and feedback sessions help shape the next generation process
improvement.
*Develop scripts and application extensions to enhance the functionality and usability of the deployed tools.
These developments are likely to be based on standard Linux Scripting environments interacting with HTTP web services.
*Interact at a technical level with developers and managers to identify, specify and implement supporting scripts to
reduce the number of false positives generated by static analysis tool - this will be using a mix of open and 3rd party
languages.
*Assist the existing global user base in their ongoing use of the Klocwork and Blackduck tools.
*Interface with the third party software tool suppliers to provide support requests and raise technical issues.

Mandatory skills and experience
*Educated to BSc or MSc level
*The C language is central to the work the Middleware teams do and is therefore essential to this role (C++ may also be
acceptable).
*Proven Linux and Scripting experience, for example Bash, Perl, PHP or Python.
*A clear understanding of the role of static code analysis tools and software development workflows.
*Requirements capture.
*Excellent team player, with high levels of self-motivation to work as an individual.
*Good written and verbal communication, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within an organisation.
*Possess the desire to explore, grow and learn new technologies.
*Creative in finding and implementing solutions to problems.

*Web Server technologies - Tomcat, Apache, HTML and Javascript, JavaWA Consultants is an Employment Business and an
