Trainee JAVA Software Engineers

JOB DESCRIPTION SECTION:



RSL are looking for bright, enthusiastic and professional trainees to join the software engineering teams developing the
Defence Targeting Toolset (DTT) programme within the C2 business area.

Required Skills:



The required skills are :



* Degree in Software Engineering or related discipline.

* An understanding of software design and solution implementation.

* Exposure to any of the following is desirable : Java/JEE, JavaScript (especially Dojo or JQuery), HTML, CSS, GWT, IDE,
Hibernate, JUnit.

* An understanding of UML to describe design and model technical solutions



The role



The Trainee Software Engineer will:




* Employ best practice object oriented skills to achieve design compliance with the software architecture
* Design, Code and Unit test each software element developed.
* Support the Integration, Test and Sell-Off of the product.
* Establish strong relationships with the key stakeholders.
* Support formal project meetings and working groups - candidates must be comfortable with collaborative working to
develop an overall solution.
* Ensure that all engineering activities undertaken under their control are conducted to a common standard that reflects
best practice, and are in accordance with RSL Policy.

* Use Raytheon 6 Sigma proactively to foster a culture of continuous process improvement.
* Maintain the technical content of documentation and standards of engineering work being performed on the programme
within their technical control.


The Programme



The Defense Targeting Toolset (DTT) programme, is a major element in Raytheon Systems Limited's (RSL) strategic
development into the C2 business area. RSL have recently successfully completed the AP phase and are now moving into the
Development and Manufacturing (D&M) Phase. To support this, RSL is expanding its team based in Warminster.

DTT is a tiered, distributed application, primarily built around the J2EE architecture. It provides a suite of SW tools
to support Battlespace Management for the Artillery Systems IPT within the MoD. It will comprise COTS and bespoke tools
anticipated to be several hundred thousand lines of Java running over a Windows Operating System with an Information Tier
based on an Oracle Database. The software engineering teams will be involved in working with the customer to understand,
prototype and develop solutions to key requirements. Following on from this, they will formalise the product into an
operational baseline.
