Quality Engineer / Quality Inspector - to 26k + paid OT

Experienced Quality Assurance / Quality Inspection Engineer required for a well established and successful contract tool room based in Birmingham. The company produce precision machined tools and components for a variety of industries and provide a range of CNC services including turning, milling, grinding and EDM. With a full order book, and after the recent purchase of new machinery, they require a full time Quality Inspector to carry out in-process and final inspection of machined parts. Experience of working in a high accuracy environment is essential (evidence of this should be clear in your CV), as is knowledge of measuring techniques using micrometers, bore gauges, callipers etc. Any CMM programming experience would be beneficial but not essential.


Main Duties

* Inspection of parts to ensure specified dimensions using CMM equipment as well as other various inspection equipment (micrometers, dial bore gauges and callipers)
* Perform visual inspections on all parts for cracks, nicks, pits, burrs, blends and surface finish
* Perform both in-process and final inspection on parts
* Check, verify, and record results including SPC and other statistical techniques


Essential Experience

* Machine shop or toolroom experience with thorough knowledge of practices, principles and operations
* Experience using all types of gauges including height, callipers and micrometers
* Ability to read engineering drawings


On offer is a salary of up to 26k (negotiable and depending upon experience) plus paid overtime.
Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8.00am till 4.30pm, Friday 8.00am till 1.00pm
