Job Description


Our client, a leading law firm just outside Bristol require ULR Litigators with varying levels of experience to profitably manage a caseload of uninsured loss claims acting at all times in the best interests of the Claimant.

The ideal candidate will be required to:

* To assist the Team Leader with the supervision, monitoring and development of the junior members of the ULR Team.
* To ensure that all of the work carried out within the ULR Team is of the highest standard.
* To assist the Team Leader in respect of all litigated matters both Small and Fast Track within the ULR Team.

The Role

1. Case Handling

a. The Litigator will manage a workload of files, in accordance with the instructions of the Team Leader. The number of files will depend on the level of seniority, the complexity of the cases and the value thereof. This will consist of a balanced caseload of Small Track and Fast Track post litigation work.
b. Any claims that fall outside the Litigators individual authority level are to be reported to the Team Leader.
c. Litigators will comply with the firm's standard service levels and those that are applicable to particular accounts as a result of client preference.
d. Litigators will handle all cases in the best interests of the Claimant at all times. Any circumstances that prevent this or create a potential conflict are to be reported to the Team Leader and/or the Operations Manager.
e. Litigators will manage their files to ensure that all time spent is accurately recorded.
f. Litigators will manage their files to ensure that all payments made and received are accurately recorded and the procedures relating to payment of disbursements and damages are followed at all times.
g. Files will be maintained in accordance with the file maintenance procedures.
h. Filing will be kept up to date and in date order.
i. The Case Management system will be used properly and effectively in accordance with agreed procedures.
j. Any complaints to be reported immediately to the Team Leader and/or the Operations Manager.
k. Any mistakes or errors are to be reported immediately to the Team Leader.
l. All files in the Litigators system are to be reviewed once per month and a note made on the file (the cabinet review).
m. Litigators to monitor and manage own compliance with targets in respect of income and file closure rates.

2. Mentoring/Supervision

a. The Litigator will assist in the supervision and development of and management of the caseload handled by the ULR team litigators.
b. The Litigator will check and sign incoming and outgoing post received and produced by the ULR team litigators.
c. The Litigator will assist other case handlers within the ULR team with ad hoc queries
d. The Litigator to report to the Team Leader, any training requirements identified for each litigator as a result of the mentoring or review procedures.
e. The Litigator to assist in the training programme where required.


Skills Required


* At least 1 years experience of RTA claims in either insurer or solicitor environment with credit hire experience preferable.
* In depth knowledge of liability and quantum issues and willingness to keep up to date with legal developments.
* IT Literate
* Ability to work to tight deadlines
* Good organisational skills
* Time keeping
* Effective people skills, good mentoring and training skills
* Ability to work to targets.
